SPIRIT OF SHIZEN

In Japan, the relationship with nature is deeply rooted in its culture and branches out into several micro-seasons. Highlighting the intricacies of this relationship was the goal of the “Spirit of Shizen – Japan’s Nature through 72 micro-seasons” exhibition put together by Luxembourg’s National Museum of Natural History.

Two events were photographed in the scope of the exhibition which ran over July and August 2022. One was for the exhibition preview in the presence of H.E. Ambassador Okuyama of Japan. The other event was a cooking workshop lead by the man who opened the first Japanese restaurant in Luxembourg, Hajime Miyamae, and their head chef, Akira Yasuoka. The pair introduced attendees to a Japanese staple: tempura.
